How we check each listing
Where the data comes from, what we keep, what we remove, and what we have not confirmed yet.
Every facility here has a public Google listing that says "Open 24 hours" on all seven days of the week. We checked 10,359 storage listings and kept 1,425 (13.8%).
1. Pull every storage listing
We collect public Google Maps listings for self storage across the United States, including name, address, phone, website, Google rating, review count, coordinates and weekly hours.
2. Keep only true 24/7 hours
A listing makes the cut only if every day, Monday through Sunday, reads "Open 24 hours." Facilities that are open 24 hours on some days but not others are left out.
3. Remove what is not self storage
Some 24-hour listings are not storage facilities you can rent a unit at. This round we removed 28 listings:
- Peer-to-peer parking and storage (names starting with "Neighbor"): 22
- Luggage storage (Bounce Luggage Storage): 4
- Wine storage: 2
4. Check the real gate hours
Google hours do not say whether "24 hours" covers the gate, the office, or both. So we read each facility's own website for its gate access hours, office hours, starting price, unit sizes and features, and record the date we checked. So far:
- 162 confirm 24/7 gate access.
- 1,119 close the gate at night, despite the Google listing. Their pages carry a note saying so.
- 144 we could not confirm yet, because the website was unavailable or did not state gate hours clearly. Their pages show Gate access: not yet confirmed.
When a website is unclear or contradicts itself, we leave the field unconfirmed rather than guess. We recheck facilities regularly, because hours change.
Photos and ratings
Photos and logos come from each facility's Google Maps listing and are credited on the facility page. Ratings and review counts are Google's, as of October 2026.
Corrections
If a listing is wrong or a facility has changed its hours, tell us and we will update it.
